A poem inspired by a painting
I loved this painting too. Have been going back to it for months now.
Your poem captured the mood of the painting so well!
Yes, there is something so powerfully beautiful about this painting...means much the poem spoke to you! Thank you so much for reading, Priyamvada
This captivated me the whole way through! I love it - wow. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Your kind words mean so much, Kate! Am so glad to hear that the poem resonated the way it did with you, thank you *so* much!
“She has finally finished
cutting the bhindi:
the tiny slices
repose upon the soft white cloth,
gutted, homeless fish.” this is such a journey of a poem, i love the domesticity of such a small act, examined.
Thank you so much for reading it so closely and the way you did...it means a lot!
I have only one word here for the chosen words of poetry. Profound.
Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!
This poignant poem (in response to Hemali Vadalia’s painting) has stayed with me since I first read it in your Notes, perhaps some months ago.
In the simplest words, you have captured the invisible heft of unending gendered domestic labour. You have a remarkable gift.
Thank you for sharing the poems!
Richa, the warmth of your words stayed with me for long. Thank you for reading the way you did and your kind words...it means very much to me❤️
The poems are so evocative!
Thank you so much for reading, Aparichita!
